7.3. Acoustic Measurement Methods

Measurements of sound pressure and power are carried out in our in-house punker measurement laboratory. The measurement methods used with the different accuracy classes 1-3 are described in the standards DIN EN ISO 3741-3746. Typical sound power level sums are designated as  L_{W6} for the pressure-side measurement setup, while the designation for a suction-side sound measurement is  L_{W5}.

Other measurement methods, such as those regulated in the AMCA 311 standard, are also frequently used to qualify and compare fans and fan impellers.
